Fire-Rating Compliance Upgrades & City Deficiency Corrections
At the Salvation Army Church project in North Vancouver, Nexvan Construction Management was responsible for completing a full scope of fire-rating compliance upgrades and deficiency corrections. This project was initiated after a City inspection identified multiple areas where existing interior components did not meet the required fire-rating standards and needed to be corrected to achieve compliance.
As part of the work, all existing ceiling tiles that were not fire-rated were removed and replaced with Class A fire-rated ceiling tiles, ensuring the ceiling system met the required fire safety classification. During the site review, it was also identified that several door closers installed in the building were not compliant with the required fire-rated standards. These non-compliant units were removed and replaced with approved fire-rated door closers.
In addition, multiple penetrations and openings were identified in areas related to the building’s HVAC system, where services passed through walls and ceiling assemblies. All penetrations were thoroughly inspected and properly sealed using approved fire-rated firestopping materials, preventing the spread of fire and smoke between compartments and ensuring the integrity of the fire-rated assemblies.
This project was completed with a strong focus on meeting City requirements, delivering clean and professional workmanship, and ensuring all corrections were completed to a standard suitable for final
